The Power of Accountability

To many, the word accountability can have a negative connotation; it carries a weight of responsibility that people refuse to settle within themselves. But, I like accountability as a buffer and safety net.

People are uncomfortable with it because it diminishes their autonomy and how they want to live. When you are accountable, you first think about how your decisions will affect those around you.

Being accountable helps us make better decisions, which in turn helps us to become better humans. Those of you with children and a family understand how important accountability is. We want to be here for them, so we know making the best choices is essential.

Accountability keeps us considerate and prevents us from making costly mistakes.

In Proverbs 11 :14, it says “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety”.

It can also help with your productivity.

I recently solicited the help of a friend to hold me accountable for finishing a book that I’m currently writing. I started this book in 2018, but I could not get past my introduction and the first paragraph in Chapter One.

I felt stuck. This book's contents are very personal and bring up emotions too heavy to tackle alone. I know God wants me to write this…
