Don’t Pray and Turn Away..

Do you wonder why some of your prayers seem to go unanswered? Do you feel that sometimes God has forgotten you?
When it comes to answered prayers, I have learned this: One, they don’t have an expiration date on them, and two they are rarely delivered in a straight line(as in, the obvious route).
It’s taken me over 27 years to understand the equation of prayer + faith and the desired result.
First, we must understand that God has a big picture plan that He is working from. All of our answered prayers have to fit into this. God doesn’t always give us what we ask for, or when we want it. Just as your earthly parents did not. They had their reasons, and God has his. It is our job to work within this truth.
When we pray, we should believe what we pray, and then watch for God’s answer. Young Miriam in the book of Exodus chapter 2 understood this.
Miriam’s mother wanted to save her infant son Moses from a death decree given by Pharoah, the king of Egypt. All male Hebrew infants were ordered to be killed at birth. The Hebrews were growing fast in number, and strength. The king wanted to stop future threats of retaliation from the people they enslaved, read in Exodus 1 about this. Because of this when Jochebed, (Moses’ mother) gave birth to him she placed him in a basket, and sent him up the Nile river to save him.
Then, Moses’ sister Miriam stood at a distance to see what would happen. She followed the basket down the Nile to watch over Moses. She watched to see where Moses would go, and what would become of Him.
When I was reading this I couldn’t help but see that basket as a prayer of hope going up to God. Moses was hope for Miriam, her mother, and eventually all of the Hebrews enslaved in Egypt.
We must remember that when we pray and believe, the providence of God kicks in! Our prayers have to work in concert with God’s divine plan. The best way to keep our faith, is to know who God is and how He operates. So read your Bible, and obey. This is how you know Him. Live for Him, and trust His words.
Remember, God will never abandon His big picture plans, so we must never abandon our prayers. Watch over them, remember them, and hold them up to the light of His Word, and character. He will be our light and guide, while we watch.
The providence of God was moving that basket down the Nile river, right into the hands that would give Moses the position and training he needed to free God’s people from slavery.
Your prayers are also still on the move…God does not forget. Just remember How you should pray(James 4:3), and God will take care of the rest.
